Which award are you supporting?
“Athlete of the week” often describes a local school or newspaper poll. “Player of the week” may belong to a club or league. Goal and save awards recognise a particular moment rather than an overall performance.
Looking for a keeper-of-the-week vote? Check the actual award name. NWSL uses Save of the Week; the Premier League has a Save of the Month award. These are examples of different ballots, not interchangeable names for one contest.
Find this week’s voting link
Start at the organiser’s current announcement. Check the matchweek, date, player and category before sharing. Search results can surface an old nomination even when its headline still says “vote now”.
Some ballots run on the organiser’s website; others run through its official social accounts. Bay FC’s August 2026 nomination post, for example, directed supporters to Instagram and X for a Save of the Week vote. That does not establish the route for another league or later round.
Check the clock and eligibility
Write the exact closing time and time zone next to the link. “Ends Thursday” is not enough when supporters live in different countries. Confirm whether the ballot is open to everyone or restricted by age, location or membership.
Also check the permitted frequency. A person may be allowed one vote for the entire poll, one per round or another organiser-defined limit. Do not assume that a newspaper ballot and a league ballot use the same rules.
Make the request easy to follow
Our goalkeeper Alex is shortlisted for this week’s save award. Watch the nominated clips and, if Alex’s is your favourite, vote through [official ballot link]. Voting closes Thursday at 8 pm [time zone]. The organiser allows [verified voting limit].
Alex and the deadline above are fictional examples. Keep the actual nominee’s name consistent with the ballot. A short clip or image may help explain the nomination if you have permission to share it.
Know when a target calculation helps
If the poll shows raw totals, you can use same-round counts to plan a target. Percentages alone do not reveal how many ballots separate two nominees unless a reliable total is also available.
For an award with judges as well as fans, more public votes do not by themselves establish the overall winner. Keep those rules in the brief. Never describe your support plan as league-approved unless that relationship is real.
Use a current-ballot checklist
Before sending a sports voting request, confirm the nominee, team, award, week, category and closing zone against the current announcement. A search result for last week is not the current ballot. Put the confirmed closing time through the deadline planner, then share the official link with the exact award name.
